And I will tell …I’m glad I went to see the Metallica tribute band Battery. Right from the time the curtains opened to the end of the first set (an exhausting hour later) the band played on gushing out loud music and putting on a show that really rocked the house over at Rane Party Bar located in West Seneca, NY.

The lead singer George Hartwig really sounded like James Hetfield – lead singer from Metallica. I (and others) were impressed with the performance and the vocals. George kept belting out the tunes and he put on a performance that I will not soon forget.

At times, I heard one or two Metellica die hard fans mention the drummer was skipping a beat or two; however, if he did I never noticed and I was impressed with his stellar performance.

In the end, I was amazed (and deaf at the same time) and if they return to Buffalo …I’ll be there. But this time I’ll bring ear plugs.

im’s Steakout 4000 Seneca Street, West Seneca, NY 14224

First, I want to be fair and of course very honest. The food (steak sub) was very good and the service was excellent; however, the restaurant was dirty. There was food on the floor, counters were not wiped down and (no kidding) there was embedded food on some of the tables. Seriously, for a place that has an excellent reputation for food should also carry the same reputation for being clean.

In addition (this is disgusting), an employee was standing outside the FRONT door (approx. 15 feet from the door) smoking her cigarette. After she was through smoking she did NOT wash her hands, she proceeded to put her gloves on and make food. Yes, she did have gloves on; however, not washing your hands after smoking is disgusting. According to the NYS Department of Health hands should be washed after smoking.

I did send the main office an email and there has been NO reply. I’m disappointed! Will I visit again, maybe, if the restaurant is clean.

Ok, this discussion has really turned heated between my friend and I on several occasions. He (being a cook) thinks that cooks should be tipped like the waitress or bartenders and I think not! Why? I’m glad you asked because I mean no disrespect to cooks worldwide and please do not spit in my food. LOL.

Most cooks (if not all) make above the minimum wage and the wait staff almost always makes well below the federal minimum wage provisions of $5.85 per hour. In addition, many do not share the same benefits (medical, time off etc.) as cooks and all this should be considered. In addition, if the food is not right the wait staff usually gets blamed for that huge mistake. LOL.

Now, below we have added what we think is an appropriate tip for each food service title. We love to hear your thoughts about this heated discussion. Try to be nice. LOL.

Barista

No tip required, though many suggest throwing coins into the tip jar.

Bartender

$1/drink (or 15% of total bill). Pre-tip for better service.

Delivery person (including pizza)

10%, $2 minimum

Maitre d’

$5-$25 for special efforts

Takeout

No tip required unless something special is done

Waiter

15% for adequate service, 20% for exceptional service. For poor service, leave 10% or less. It’s okay to leave nothing for exceptionally poor service, but only if you’re sure it’s the waiter’s fault.
